Why We Verify: Creating a Community, Not Just a Crowd

When you create your profile on Pare Dating, you will see that our signup process is a little different than other apps. First, you have a quick conversation to tell us about yourself. Then we ask you to upload your government-issued ID. Immediately after, we ask you to scan your face using your phone’s camera. Lastly, you complete a criminal record check.

We know this takes a moment of extra effort. We also know that sharing personal information requires trust. We want to explain exactly why we do this, and why it is the cornerstone of making Pare the safest dating experience for people over 40.

It’s About Connecting the ID to the Person

In the digital world, it is easy to find a photo of an ID. It is much harder to fake a face.

Think of this two-step process like a notary or a bank teller checking your identity:

  1. The ID Upload: This confirms that a real person exists with your name, age, and clean history.
  2. The Face Scan: This confirms that you, the person holding the phone right now, are the true owner of that ID.

Without the face scan, someone could easily use a lost or stolen ID to create a profile. By matching your live face to the photo on your ID, we ensure that no one is impersonating you or using your good name to trick others.

We Do Not Store Your Data (We Hire Experts for That)

This is the most important part: Pare Dating does not store or keep your government ID, your biometric face data or your criminal record. We are experts in dating, not data warehousing.

Instead, we partner with the world’s leading security firms whose only job is managing sensitive, private data. Your verification is handled instantly by our safety partners, Triton and Checkr.

Who are they?

  • Triton: The gold standard in Canada, trusted by the Ontario government police services, fortune 500 companies and major healthcare providers to handle background checks securely.
Uber, Bell, Insurance Council of British Columbia, Canadian Pacific Railway, Randstad, Elections Alberta and countless more use Triton to verify identity and run criminal record checks
  • Checkr Trust: A global leader in safety, trusted by Fortune 500 companies and the world's largest employment platforms to verify millions of identities every year.

When you scan your ID, it goes directly to them through a secure, encrypted tunnel (the same kind banks use). They tell us "Yes, this person is real" or "No, it’s a match," and that is it.

Making Background Checks Meaningful

One of the features that sets Pare Dating apart is our commitment to criminal record checks. This is vital for peace of mind, but a background check is only as good as the data feeding it.

If we allowed users to sign up without biometric verification, a bad actor could hide behind a fake identity. By biometrically linking your face to your legal identity, we ensure that the background check we run is accurately attached to the person creating the profile.

The Pare Promise

We intentionally built these steps into our signup process to act as a filter. Scammers look for the path of least resistance; they avoid apps that require biometric verification, government ID and criminal record checks.

By completing this step, you are helping us build a curated community of genuine people who are serious about finding a safe, honest connection.

Thank you for helping us keep Pare safe.
